A Woman Biker’s Dream

Now, for the fun part. Let’s fantasize! Okay, close your eyes…wait! If you close your eyes, you can’t read. Scratch that! Just read and try to envision this:

Eight women on all different kinds of bikes, some are Harleys, some are Hondas, there’s a BMW in there, and a Kawasaki, etc. We are all gearing up for what is sure to be a really delicious ride through some gorgeous scenery. Let’s say that this fantasy is in the Arizona desert near Sedona.

Rich, red earth and rock is all around us. The sky is bright-blue and clear, the sun just coming up over the horizon. There is a slight breeze rustling through the sage and junipers. The air is soft and cool and richly scented with plant pheromones because in the desert, plants have one chance per day to attract a pollinator.

The amazing, red, green, & blue of Sedona

The women are laughing and chatting as they pull on their balaklavas, their scarves, their sunglasses, and helmets. In the air, a thrumming excitement. The women are expectant, eager for adventure, and feeling fine. Then, we start the bikes. The thunder begins.

Everyone smiles. They know what’s coming. A chance to feel themselves fully awake, fully alive, fully connected to the road, fully centered in their lives. No other activity requires this much awareness, this much absorption but pays off in such big dividends. No other activity makes us feel such freedom, such power, and wholeness. And, we have the whole day to feel this. Ahhhhh….
